November Newsletter

November 3, 2025
Dear Walker Families:
Happy November! As we enter fall weather, please check the Lost and Found and retrieve any abandoned sweatshirts and jackets. Anything not claimed is sent to thrift after the end of the trimester.
Today, you will receive an envelope containing twenty Turkey Raffle tickets. The tickets are $2.00 each. Please sell the tickets so we can raise money for grade-level field trips or fun class activities. The tickets and money will be due on November 17th. We will draw on November 19th, and winners can pick up the turkeys before Thanksgiving Break. We also need donations of turkeys to store in our freezer. Please let the office know if you have a turkey to donate. Thank you!
Art and Literacy Night is on Wednesday, November 5th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fortuna Middle School. Hot dogs will be served at 5:00, and fun activities for the whole family will begin at 5:30. The evening will feature performances by a Mariachi Band, a brass band, and the FMS Band. All are welcome!
On November 7th, get ready to honor our veterans by wearing red, white, and blue. Veterans Day is observed on Tuesday, November 11th, and schools are closed that day as well as Monday, November 10th, this year.
Parent Conferences are the week of November 17th - 21st. The school will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. each day during conference week. By now, your child’s teacher will likely have contacted you to schedule a conference time during that week. Thank you in advance for making it a priority to attend your child’s conference.
Thanksgiving Break will be after conference week from November 24th to 28th. There will be no school this week.
A message from our crossing guards: Please slow down! Safety first! The speed limit is 15 mph when children are present.
A reminder about snacks: please do not send students to school with items such as Takis, Hot Cheetos, Prime drinks, sodas, candy, or gum. These items can cause problems among students as they try to trade food, which we do not allow.
Looking ahead to December, we invite you to the Walker Winter Wonderland on Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for breakfast, crafts, and photo opportunities. More information to follow.
