Dear Walker Families:
It’s hard to believe we’ve arrived in May — April flew by! Thank you so much for all your help in making the carnival a wonderful event. We also appreciate your support at the spring concerts, lunches, and Student of the Month recognitions. Students love having their families involved!
Another fun opportunity to join us is this Friday, May 2nd, at our Cinco de Mayo potluck celebration. Students will share the dances they've learned and enjoy some piñata fun. To get us excited and inspired, we were treated to a performance last week by the Eureka High School Baile Folklorico dancers!
On May 5th, CAASPP testing begins for our 3rd and 4th graders. Please help your child prepare by ensuring they are well-rested and reminding them of the importance of a good breakfast — we serve breakfast daily at school. Teachers have been working hard to make sure students are prepared, comfortable with testing expectations, and ready to do their best.
We've been celebrating lots of great behavior lately! Staff have been sending positive office referrals, giving me the opportunity to make happy phone calls home. It’s always a highlight to share these moments with families. Thank you for supporting your star students!
Our enrollment for next year is now open. If you know of any families with Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten-aged children, please encourage them to enroll at our site. We will host a Kindergarten Round-Up orientation on Thursday, May 8th, at 1:00 p.m. Additionally, we invite you to our Walker Open House on Thursday, May 22nd, from 5:30–6:30 p.m.
Finally, a reminder: one of the best ways to support your child's success is to ensure they attend school every day, on time. Many teachers start the morning with a Character Strong social-emotional lesson. Morning circles help students begin the day with a positive mindset and a strong sense of community.
